How To Distinguish Pure Cotton Sheets
Dec 30, 2022
1. Look at the label. Generally, as long as the label is not fake, if it says that the cotton content exceeds 70%, it is pure cotton.
2. Look at the touch. Pure cotton cloth has soft luster, soft feel, poor elasticity and easy to wrinkle. After kneading the cloth into a ball by hand, loosen it, and obvious wrinkles can be seen, and the creases are not easy to recover. Take out several warp and weft yarns from the selvage and twist them to see that the length of the fiber is different.
3. Burn with fire. The pure cotton fabric is close to the flame, does not shrink, does not melt and burns rapidly. The flame is orange and has blue smoke. It will continue to burn after leaving the flame. After burning, the ash is small and linear. The ash is soft and light gray, and it is easy to become powder by hand.
4. Olfactory method. The pure cotton bedspread doesn't smell like anything else. If other ingredients are added to the fabric, it will have a special smell. So it's best to ask about the taste when choosing pure cotton sheets. Because chemical fiber components will emit a taste of industrial products, which is easier to find.
5. Tear method. Pick up the cloth and tear it with two hands. If there are some rough edges on the sheets, the sheets are made of pure cotton. If there is no response to tearing, then the sheets may be made of other materials.
6. Water washing method. The cotton sheets will shrink when washed, that is, the actual size will become smaller after washing. In order to avoid this situation, many home textile products will add certain chemical fiber ingredients in it, so that the quilt cover is not easy to shrink.
